Sharon Song is a breaking news journalist and political communications strategist in San Francisco. Her experiences include anchoring behind the weather desk & reporting on national & international news. Her journalism work has been featured on several major networks including NBC News and FOX News. She is currently a Press Secretary at States United Democracy Center -- directing press coverage to support attorneys general, secretaries of state, and governors who run elections and safeguard the right to vote. Sharon received her master's degree in Human Rights Studies at Columbia University. Her thesis research titled "Digital Feminism: In the Aftermath of #MeToo What's Next for Workplace Equity for Women" won the Audience Choice award at Columbia's Institute of the Study of Human Rights Thesis Competition and has been published in the Journal of Human Rights. She was also selected as a semi-finalist for the GSAS Synthesis Competition. Sharon is an advocate for women's rights. Her investigations include examining human rights mechanisms – and the lack of legal protections – in ensuring the realization of rights. |
Prior to her newfound passion for gender justice & interpreting international humanitarian law, Sharon was a Breaking News Journalist at FOX News, and a Weather Anchor/ Entertainment Reporter for Fios 1 News. She was also the Headlines News Reporter for Channel One News and a Weather Anchor/ Reporter for KULR-8 NBC News. Behind the weather desk, She has tracked history-making weather events - from tornadoes, hurricanes, and flash floods. She's also covered major news events, including international affairs and the 2016 & 2020 Presidential elections. Sharon is a big believer in giving back to the community. Off the air, you can catch her emceeing & hosting charity galas for numerous Tri-State organizations. She also attended Boston University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism. |
